spy guy

i watched the movie "Breach" last night with my son (who fell asleep within the first 20 minutes). chris cooper is magnificent as the creepy but oh-so-devout and 'upright' spy Robert Hanssen, convicted of espionage in mid-2001. he is currently serving a life sentence and, according to the factoids scrolled after the end of the movie, spends 23 hours a day in solitary confinement.

i got fascinated by the story of this man--i know, he was arrested over 6 years ago, but i'm a little behind the curve as far as current events goes--and have been perusing the Net all morning. there is a lot of information about him available, and i'm drawn in by my morbid curiosity about what would twist someone's mind so decisively and deviantly.

incidently, he was (still is?--interesting question!) a member of Opus Dei. click on that for some interesting reading.

men of 'G-d'; men of power, money, control, and mental instability.

men who are running this beautiful earth right into the 'End Times.'

me, i'm rooting for the airy-fairy, dirt-worshipping tree-huggers myself.

hey--got a minute? go here, and read about "firing the grid" on 17 July. send the link to your friends if you feel so inclined.

i'll be in sedona that tuesday, and be happy to sit in meditation for an hour. might not get past the hotel room balcony, but it could happen....
